Lauren is the K - 6th grade Spanish Teacher and K - 4th grade Art Teacher at TMS. She was born and raised in Port Angeles, Washington, situated at the base of the Olympic Mountains and along the Strait of Juan de Fuca. Her parents raised her to have a healthy appreciation for nature and all its wonders, while also finding plenty of time to foster a love for hiking, skiing, swimming, and all activities in nature. She also enjoys reading, traveling as much as possible, practicing yoga and mindfulness meditation, and cooking for herself, friends, and family.
Lauren earned her BA in Spanish Language & Culture at the University of Washington, with a minor in Linguistics, focusing on bilingualism and the developing brain. During her time in the Spanish department at UW, she studied abroad in Quito, Ecuador to increase her fluency, learn about other cultures, and create an appreciation for other ways of living. She volunteered at a non-profit preschool in the city called La Fundación Entrega. She also took advantage of the many opportunities to travel and see the beauty that South America has to offer, including the coast and the Amazon Rainforest. After graduating, she and her boyfriend moved to Central America for several months, living and traveling throughout Nicaragua, Costa Rica, and Panama.
Lauren moved to Telluride in 2017 and began teaching preschool at Mountain Munchkins Preschool in Mountain Village. She has both friends and family in the Telluride area, and has cultivated a deep love and appreciation for all things Colorado.
