Jamie Hozack was born in Montreal, but grew up in the Philadelphia area, where he attended Chestnut Hill Academy for high school. He studied Biochemistry and Molecular Biology as an undergraduate at Dartmouth College. He earned his M. A. In Mathematics with a Teaching emphasis from the University of Northern Colorado, and studied Educational Leadership at Colorado State University as part of a Principal Licensure program.
After a short time working as a financial analyst in New York, Jamie moved to Aspen, CO, where he taught mathematics and led outdoor education courses at Aspen High School for twelve years. He served as the assistant principal at Basalt High School for three years before being hired as a School Director in Training for the Denver Schools of Science and Technology, a recent recipient of the Broad Prize for excellence as a charter organization. He is excited to be back in the mountains, living in and serving a small and close-knit community, and teaching and leading at a school that values experiential learning and student well-being.
He is an avid skier and climber, and he and his soon-to-be-wife Erin (and their dog Albus) are looking forward to running and otherwise adventuring in the San Juans.
