Ryan Ahearn joins TMS as the upper school humanities teacher.  Hailing from Ridgefield, Connecticut, he received his secondary education from the Taft School.  Following his time at Taft, Ryan headed north to Maine and more specifically, Colby College, where he pursued his BA in religious studies.  After repeated knee injuries playing hockey at Colby, Ryan embraced rock climbing as his new favorite outlet for athletics.  After three years of setting routes and leading trips, Ryan became the president of the Colby Mountaineering Club as a senior.

After college, Ryan expanded his background in education through working for various schools including: Amistad Academy, the Taft School, Horizons Student Enrichment Program, and the Lowell Whiteman School. Through these experiences Ryan taught writing, grammar, American literature, United States history, and media literacy to students from all walks of life.

On the rare occasion Ryan does not find himself somehow connected to the world of education, he hopes to be on his bike.  If it was not for a cross-country bike tour completed with three friends in order to raise money for the Clean Air Conservancy, Ryan never would have witnessed the beauty of Telluride, and not known what he was missing.
