He has been an educator for 30 years at the Denver Academy where he has taught, developed programs, trained faculty, and provided administrative leadership as head of school for 16 of those years. Notable achievements include his development of Project Intercept, a training program for faculty that has been implemented in independent schools across the states, and his recognition in 2007 as Administrator of the Year by the Denver Association for the Gifted and Talented. Jim received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Carthage College and Master of Education degree from the University of Northern Colorado.
In his spare time, Jim enjoys outdoor activities such as skiing, road and mountain biking, and golfing. The Telluride ski mountain is one Colorado ski resort that Jim has yet to ski, so he is enthusiastic about getting to know the ski area. He is an avid traveler and especially enjoys touring on his Ducati sports touring bike. Jim has a daughter, Brittany, who is 25 years old. Jim sees his move to Telluride as a "true life adventure" that he is embracing whole-heartedly.
