The Institute for Global Education at Telluride Mountain School provides development to teachers and school leaders in the field of global citizenship. The weeklong retreat is designed for secondary educators who wish to develop global citizens in their own schools. Led by Carl Hobert, founding director of Axis of Hope and professor of global studies and international conflict resolution at Boston University, the workshop includes topics such as conflict resolution skills, effective technology in global education, media literacy, service learning, and foreign language instruction. Participants will also learn to design, map, and implement curricula for seminal topics, including socio-economic and geo-political conflicts.
“The real work of cutting edge educational leaders in the 21st century is teaching – and producing - global citizens with a profound knowledge of languages and cultures well beyond our US borders” said Carl Hobert. “This workshop provides teachers and school leaders with the blueprint for effecting that form of education.”
The Institute runs from July 8-13, 2012 at Telluride Mountain School in Telluride, Colorado.
