IMMERSION PROJECTS

Annual Immersion projects at the Mountain School give students in Grades 1-12 the opportunity to research and learn about subjects that are of great interest to them personally. By the end of the 8-week Immersion project, each student becomes an "expert" in his or her subject, submitting an informative research paper, visual display and oral presentation to peers and parents during an all-school "Expo."


TELLURIDE'S
INDEPENDENT SCHOOL

 

Immersion projects take place in the Spring and are an experience that Mountain School students anticipate all year long. The majority of work is self-directed. Students take great pride in their topics and learn to "own" the learning process, which often takes them far outside the classroom.

Through Immersion projects, Mountain School students are better able to appreciate the learning processes available to them on a day-to-day basis. They develop a love-of-learning that reaches well beyond texts and classroom lessons.
