FUNDRAISING EVENTS DETAILS

Ski Pass Raffle
Each fall, all Montessori @ Mountain School and Telluride Mountain School students sell raffle tickets for a ski pass to raise funds for the scholarship fund. Telluride Ski and Golf Company generously donates a ski pass to the school valued at $975, which makes this event possible.

Penny War
In the “Penny War” fundraiser, classrooms compete to see who can collect the most pennies. Each year, students donate the funds to a different non-profit. In past years, Heifer International and The Beacon of Hope Resource Center in New Orleans, LA were gift recipients.

Red Ball Express Raffle
The Red Ball Express is a fundraiser organized by the Telluride Rotary Club for the benefit of Telluride area youth and nonprofit groups. For every $5 ticket we sell, TMS keeps $4. The winners receive cash prizes - $5,000 for 1st place, $1,500 for second, and $500 for third. Each spring, students sell Red Ball Express tickets to help offset the cost of their experiential learning trips.

Festival Raffle
Each spring, students sell raffle tickets for Telluride Festival Passes. Tickets sell for $10 each. Winners have received passes to the following festivals, Bluegrass, Jazz, Film, Tech, Chamber Music, Mountain Film, Blues and Brews, Wild West and the KOTO Doo-Dah Summer Concert. The money raised in ticket sales helps offset the cost of the experiential learning trips.

Friday Night at the Movies
Friday Night at the Movies is our signature fundraising event. This year it takes place on May 9th at the Sheridan Opera House. A silent auction is followed by the screening of award-winning short films. Funds raised are used to support our scholarship program for pre-k through 12th grade students.

Recycle Sale
Each June, dedicated TMS parent, Dianne Pauls, organizes a huge sale of recycled or gently used items.  If you would like to volunteer or have items to donate, please contact Diane at dianepauls@earthlink.net. We accept donations throughout the year.

Retailer Programs
Below is a list of the different retailer programs available to benefit TMS:

  1. Clark’s Cash Saver Program
  2. Office Depot 5% Cash Back Program
  3. Target Credit Card Program
1.  CLARK’S MARKET

This year the TMS redemption week is May 11th – May 17th 2008. Every time you shop at Clark’s Market, you are eligible to receive Cash Saver Coupons.  Clark’s will give you 1 coupon for every $30 you spend.  If you spend less than $30 the value of your purchase will be credited to your account and will accumulate, so it is best to use the same cash saver number each time you shop at Clark’s. Each coupon is worth $.50 and is redeemable for a cash contribution from Clark’s Market to TMS during our Cash Saver week.  Last year, TMS raised $833.50 during its Cash Saver week! This is what you do:  When you’re checking out (and before you pay), give the cashier our Cash Saver number, which is 1969 (TMS phone number), or you can use your own number. Collect your Cash Saver Coupons and place them in the “Cash Saver Coupon Box” on Robin Hope’s desk.

2,  OFFICE DEPOT

TMS is registered at Office Depot as a beneficiary for their 5% Cash Back program.  When you make a purchase at any Office Depot store, ask the cashier to credit your purchase to the Telluride Mountain School account # 70205228.  Office Depot has the school number at all the registers.  Twice a year TMS will receive a gift card from Office Depot for the dollar amount accumulated from the purchases that are credited to TMS.

3.  TARGET

Target offers a “Take Charge of Education” program through their credit cards.  Target offers three different types of credit cards referred to as the REDcard.  They offer a Target Store Card, a Check Card, and a VISA Card. If you shop with one of your REDcards at Target, Target will donate 1% of your purchase to the eligible K-12 school of your choice.  When you apply for one of their credit cards please assign the Telluride Mountain School as the eligible school.  The Telluride Mountain School # with Target is 117778. Target also advertises, “Shop REDcard:  Get points.  Reach 1000.  Get 10% off.  Repeat.” (Note:  TMS prefers not to take the REDcard for tuition payments – the fee charged by the credit card company is significantly higher than other credit cards.)

Gifts-in-Kind
