The Lower School program offers a blend of child-centered and teacher-directed activities in its two multi-age classrooms for 1st/2nd and 3rd/4th graders. Relying on best practices for the emerging abilities of children in this age range, the program blends traditional systematic instruction emphasizing reading, writing and numeration with child-initiated activities, intriguing hands-on projects and supportive learning materials to keep educational activities engaging and lively.
To complement the developing interests and abilities of students in the middle years, the Intermediate School curriculum allows students to strengthen skills and apply principles introduced in the Lower School. More advanced research, writing projects and discussions help students to enhance understanding and clear communication. Participation in increasingly sophisticated applications of concepts and experiential projects across the curriculum keeps learning active, challenging and relevant for the 5th to 8th grader.
A college preparatory curriculum prepares students for competitive schools with applied mathematics, in-depth research skills, seminar-style classes in the humanities, Spanish language immersion and continued emphasis on the arts, media and technology.
