Jamie Salem teaches math and science classes in the Upper School. Jamie has called Telluride home in some form since 1992, but this marks the first time he has come back to stay on a permanent basis after nearly fifteen years. After two years in Telluride Middle/High School, he left to attend the Thacher School in Ojai, CA. He went on to Dartmouth College, where he graduated Summa Cum Laude with a double-major in Physics and Comparative Religion, and spent time doing post-graduate work in math and astrophysics at the University of Colorado, Boulder.

While at Dartmouth Jamie became president of the canoe and kayak club, spending as much of his free time as possible in a whitewater kayak. After graduation, he spent three months exploring the rivers of Ecuador, contracting amoebic dysentery in the process. A love of traveling and the outdoors has taken him to adventures in six of the seven continents (no trips to Antarctica planned as of yet).

In addition to his work in mathematics and physics, Jamie has extensive experience teaching preparation strategies for standardized tests, including the SAT, ACT, GRE, and MCAT Physics. He loves spending time outdoors and sharing his experiences and love of learning with his students.
